any chance the UK representatives might grow a pair of balls and just directly refuse to agree to anything that doesn't suit the needs of the fleet. in fact just refuse to attend the negoiations or recognise their outcomes and make a deal with norway privately and come to an agreement about the cod and discards proposals.
the way that mainland europe is acting on other fronts towards the UK during this credit crunch financial crisis etc its time for retribution, what harm will it do to just issue a statement stating that the UK no longer recognises the CFP or the result of any negotiation and implement a plan to conserve all stocks in UK waters with an enforced ban on vessels from without the UK & Ireland, fishing in UK waters, we have a big enough research fleet and land based scientists to monito things, a bigger fishery protection fleet to patrol the waters and recall some of the minesweepers and frigates that are fannying about in the middle east and caribbean.
they've had over thirty years of it with the UK fleet saying it doesn't work, never worked, never will work, not until theres no UK fleet left and the sea is left for the mainland fleets to plunder, the feckin danish industrial fleet did more damage to future stocks than anything the UK fleets have done, i've never read or heard anyone from the commission be critical of those actions, far easier to come out against the whipping boys, and now the UK government rather than try to secure things for the future have set one fleet against the other with the recent £5 million decom scheme, you've got english skippers blaming scottish skippers, claiming they are building new boats while the government try to put them out of a job. doesn't help anyone, its time to pull out and protect the future of UK fisheries. put an end to the practise of using these negotiations as a pawn to get a better deal on other matters. we've got trawlers being boarded due to conflict with static gear boats yet how long is it since a mainland europe boat was charged with fishing illegally? they still do it, just ask our rescue services, theres not a week goes by where someone or other doesn't need their assistance while in UK waters, might be there legally, might not, but they are there no less. send in the gunboats, the US does it to secure their future oil supplies and it costs UK lives, its about time westminster did it to secure UK's future fish stocks, save liveliehoods.
if that pisses off brussels then they can stick up their collective erses, what they going to do? invade us?
And their teeth will be blunted like lions and they will be cast away on whirlwinds and such!!!!
