Donald Swarbrick and Willie bremner landing trawled fish while at the prawns temporally, using old wooden doors and manila ropes during the years trawling was illegal in the clyde.
if you were lucky and the 7.26 glasgow train didnae get you you could cross the line and get into the cow shed just before kick off on a night game
I dont think you would get away with that now. More stewards than supporters at the games now.
heres an easy one for you, name a former ayr united player who was at the fishing out of ayr ?
come on , was at dundee united as well
Ally Love
gave it away wi dundee untd
I knew who it was but was summond to fill the coal scuttle asap or in her indoors words, NOW.
pintys looking good in that photo you would get your name in the papers landing that amount of fish at the prawns nowadays
be all right if the mezumas were going round the table
Aye, good pick - it was all steel v doors by the time I was around as a boy . But I do remember a few boats had no gallows just mollgoggers(open top sheave things) i think they called them, wi the doors hanging below the quarter. I think this was at the very end of ringing and allowed them tae switch tae herring easy :> leavin aft clear to shot the ring net. Must o been a bugger connecting the doors esp. on rough days!! ( a few dookins!!?)
