Amazing cine footage that I came across a couple of years ago of ring netting for herring in the Kilbrannan Sound in daylight. The boat shooting the net is Jock Campbell's Silver Cloud (CN 267) with the Noss Head (CN 144) picking up the end and the crew jumping over the starboard shoulder to help haul the net.

Jock Campbell is seen in the opening scene putting her away, then an unknown, but possibly one of the 'Black Shaws' is seen winding in the feeling wire. Fred L. Oman is seen close up in the wheelhouse of the Noss Head and then Alexander Galbraith (Archie's father), Big Dougal Paterson and Bertie Oman are seen hauling the net.

Towards the end of the movie, Charlie Repkie Snr is seen stoking the kipper-house that he had on the shore road with wood chips.

Quite amazing that a holiday maker had managed to get out in daylight and video this. My aunt was quite amazed to see her father looking out the wheelhouse.

70 years on ...what a great film and especially in daylight....mind you the atmosphere of the lights at the night fishing was really special too. Thanks for sharing this film, it is really appreciated.
