Concerning the topic posted on www.trawlerphotos.co.uk, we would first of all thank Henning for speaking out, and having the decency to put his name to the sthatement and not hide behind a admin account.
Some of the sthatement we accept, others we find hard to. The 99% similarity is true from one point of view and completely wrong from another point of view. Without a connection to the sea in one form or another a great majority of the members would be locked up, rightly so in some cases, without this understanding of how fishermen/seamen function, conflict and misunderstanding will occur. For a skipper to succeed he must have a strong crew, who back his every decision, a bit of an over the top comparison but without all of our members supporting the site, no matter how well it is set up, it will fail, no ifs or buts about it. At present we can only surmise we have a happy crew?? and will continue to build on this.
As for members Pm'ing other members on the other site telling them to move their photos, we view this with skepticism and more than likely an exaggeration of some members PM'ing other persons on TP, telling them about this site, which is entirely up to them. Unless it is proven otherwise we shall disregard the comment and put it down to painting some of our more colourful and entertaining members in a bad light.
We will continue to enjoy www.trawlerphotos.co.uk for what it has to offer, as will I'm sure a lot of our members will. Which we would encourage, without hesithation.
A common theme between the sites is a in-built love of all things to do with the sea, which can only be a positive thing for the future of the industry, with more exposure enforcing the positives, instead of the continual negative publicity towards an ever more endangered industry and way of life.
We shall continue to grow as will Trawlerphotos, both sites will develop in different ways, giving the members a varied and complete insight into the fishing and marine related industries, due to each sites ever developing identity.
We feel this matter to have run it's course and would ask everyone to support both sides as they expand and develop on different paths.
We wish to thank all our members again and ask everyone to add to the forum and the gallery.
I always see both sides of the argument, the one that's wrong and mine.....
