Cullercoats Harbour lies between Tynemouth and Whitley Bay in North East England. Well served by the Metro rail system this is a dormitory village for Newcastle but in its past was a busy fishing village.

Now only used for a couple of commercial fishing boats but it does have its own Lifeboat Station - see http://www.cullercoatslifeboat.co.uk/

Plenty of places to have a meal in Cullercoats, whether it be take away fish and chip or an Italian restaurant. Queens Head pub serves decent beer and food. Accommodation can easily be obtained in nearby Whitley Bay.

Some points of interest:

1. Cullercoats Harbour.

2. Lifeboat Station

3. Boat hard standing.

4. Fishermen's Watch Tower - The Watch House was traditionally where the people of the village congregated to watch for the return of their people from the sea. The Cullercoats Volunteer Life Brigade was established in 1865 but it was not until October 1879 that they opened their Watch House.

5. Queens Head Pub

6. Cullercoats Boat Yard.

7. Dove Marine Laboratory - is a research and teaching laboratory which forms part of the School of Marine Science and Technology within Newcastle University. Not open to the public.

8. Various eateries and Cullercoats Crescent Club (CIU)
