Royal Quays Marina is about a mile West of North Shields Fishquay and is primarily used by private pleasure craft but is also home to a number of fishing boats. Well used in the Winter Months by visiting Trawlers. Also home to the Fishery Protection vessel St Oswald.

The Marina was the Albert Edward Dock.

Parking to the public is free and good but not in the actual Marina itself which is for members only.

See the Marina's web site @ http://www.quaymarin...yal.asp?q=Royal

The Earl of Zetland is a floating restaurant come bar and there is another bar that serves meals just up the road at the Brewsters beside the Royal Quays Retail Outlet where there is also a Premier Lodge.

Notable areas shown on the satellite (courtesy of Google Earth) view below are:

1. Royal Quays Shopping Outlet - see http://www.royalquay...etcentre.co.uk/
2. Port of Tyne International Ferry Terminal - no public access to the river side.
3. Northumbrian Quay (was the Tyne Commissioners Quay) - riverside is fenced off but ample FREE car parking here.
4. DFDS Ferry outbound - will be either King of Scandinavia or Princess of Norway.
5. Royal Quays Marina Lock - fully accessible to the public with a walk way going across the Lock.
6. Public Parking allowed outside of the Royal Quays Boatyard.
7. Boatyard - no public access - ask permission if wanting to enter and take photographs.
8. Marina Control Tower
9. Marina

Trawlers are usually found around the area at point 5. However Charter Boats can be found at point 8.
Plenty of walkways around the Marina.

Again if anyone is making a visit, get in touch.
