This is the area of central Blyth and also the stretch of river Blyth up to Cambois - satellite view below is courtesy of Google Earth.

The fish quay for Blyth is dealt with under the thread for Blyth South Harbour.

From an accommodation perspective there are numerous B&B's, Guest Houses, Hotels in nearby Whitley Bay. Blyth is a Town and as such has all of the usual shopping/eating/drinking facilities.

Points of interest are:

1. Quay Road East - good section of wooden quayside here that often sees fishing boats sheltering in Blyth - more so in the Winters months.

2. Blyth Quayside - free car parking right up to the quay wall. Good views across the river to the Alcan Terminal which often sees ships disgorging materials for the Aluminium Smelter at nearby Alcan.

3. Alcan Ore Terminal.

4. Battleship Wharf - used by a variety of ships ranging from Coasters to Bulkers. So named as Battleships used to be scrapped here.

5. Bates Staithes - now disused but a small track allows cars to get right up to the river edge to take shots of vessels at Battleship Wharf. Also a few unregistered fishing boats berthed here.

6. South Blyth - few unregistered fishing boast berth here - opposite is Wimbourne Quay where the Smot Dee regularly berths.

7. Lot of unregistered boats here but no easy access.

8. Cambois - few unregistered fishing boats here.
