Hi Folks,

I was searching online for some images of trawlers I sailed on from Aberdeen and came across this site.

Quick introduction then: My name's Kris Stewart, aged 56 now, and I'm from Arbroath in NE Scotland. I sailed from Aberdeen from 1972 until 1978 with North Star.

Did the deckie apprentice/deckie learner thing before becoming a deckhand. After that I went down the engine room and did 3 block release sessions, 18 months apart, at Aberdeen Technical College before becoming chief engineer.

Sailed on a few trawlers as deckhand, then as 3rd, 2nd and chief engineer:  Scottish Princess, Scottish Queen, Boston Hercules, Parkroyd, Grampian Cairn, Grampian Hill, Grampian Eagle, Grampian Monarch to name a few.

Mostly working Fair Isle, Faroes, South East Iceland and some West coast work.

I'm now working as an Automotive Technology lecturer at Dundee College.

I've got a few photo's from back then which I'll upload to the site when I get a chance, and I've got a not bad memory for names, so may recall some tales on here.   O0

It'd be good to hear from anybody that remembers me from back then, I think?  :o

Cheers - Kris

Some people accuse me of thinking the world revolves around me, but it doesn't. It revolves around the Sun which shines out of my arse.
