Hello and a Happy and Safe New Year to all on this forum at sea or alongside.

My Name is Nigel Wheeldon and I recently retired from working after getting to 65, and decided to do something about this long standing urge I have had for the last 10 yrs., to get back to sea - in a purely leisurely manner - and have started to look for a decommissioned, abandoned, half finished project boat,  - very probably a wooden trawler -  to bring back into a seaworthy and usefull state.

I live in the UK about as far away from the sea as it is possible to get, namely the Peak District, but would ideally hope to find a suitable boat on the west coast of the UK, or somewhere in Ireland, North, South, East, or West!

And so it was with this in mind, that I decided to register on this excellent Forum to seek help in fulfilling this goal, by asking for help firstly to find a suitable boat and then to get in touch with anyone who has done such a project already and would be kind enough to share their experiences, any recommendations they could pass on i.e. what to avoid doing, sources of information, books, drawing, plans anything at all will be most gratefully received.

If there is anyone out there who might be thinking about abandoning such a project for whatever reason, I would be interested to hear about it.

Thanking you all for any help you might be able to give me with this project.

Nigel Wheeldon.

Contact Mark H on here, he is looking to sell on the Pansy, an old style fishing vessel just across the country from you
Some people accuse me of thinking the world revolves around me, but it doesn't. It revolves around the Sun which shines out of my arse.
