    Thanks for this MackRill.
Had a look on Amazon and there it was.  Only one review which was 5*.  Ordered it so I'll let a'body know soonest, what I think of it.
Happy Christmas and all the best for 2012.
    cheers
    Will
Will, I ordered this and received it prior to Christmas.   (It cost me more to ship it to Oz from The States than the price of the book)  I'm a little disappointed with it. I've most of rthe plans that are featured . As I've got all of Edgar J March's book's (First Editions). I was left them by my Grandfather. All the Best for the New Year . it's been Perth hottest years in the last 31 years.  Dave

Hi Dave. Happy new year to you. Sorry to hear the book wasn't up to much. Postage I paid was £2 something.  It's 2 weeks since I ordered but no sight yet.
I don't have the Edgar March book although I have seen it.  I see they're fetching £120 plus and that is just silly money.
Winter here is no as cold as the last two but we've had Hurricane Bawbag and it's big brother. I had one hot day when I was in Perth W.A. and it was uncomfortable. Still, the days are now gettin longer here.
All the best for 2012 (and happy modelling.....?)
    Will.

Thanks MackRill. Got the Matthew Tanner book.  It's quite a neat wee book with quite a bit o information. It's one of the shire Library Classics.  You can get it off of Amazon for £4.74 incl free postage (at time of writing)or from decent bookshops at £4.99. It's a decent wee potted history of the Scottish Fishing boats from Viking roots to purse-seiners with illustrations and sketches. Well worth the money.

Today, just received my copy of this featured book by Hamish Barber which I ordered on 23rd Dec. It's paperback and as Mackem rightly says, it features drawings which are in the Edgar March book. On the plus side, drawings which were featured across two pages in the March book are on one page in this one. Where the March book was a historical document on 19th century boats, this book is aimed more at the modeller with constructional photos and sketches. I feel the drawings in this book are a bit faded but with a wee bit of knowledge, they are most definitely workable. This book is a satisfactory alternative for those who can't get a hold of the March book particularly for modellers and perhaps  a bit less so for the historian. All in all, I do not regret buying it and it was worth waiting the three and a half weeks for delivery.
As a final note, I don't know why it had to be published in USA and not in the UK.
