Is that not what charts are for?
I get the point, nae fear there the thing is this.......................what did you expect to be told...........the coordinates???
Speed limits are (usually) displayed by reflective signs at the sides of our roads, no such things on the west coast or north sea with lat and long on them!
OK then, how about this...............a wee scenario for you! You are obviously gw and the boarding officer .
You have been caught fishing in the English side of the UK waters and have just been boarded by the relevant authorities.
- Ahh, Mr GW. Could you please tell me where the limits are between Scotland and England?
- Emmm, no.
- Very well, and would it be fair to expect anyone to know the coordinates of said limits off hand would be rather unfair?
- Emmm, yes as I dont know them.
- So, you admit that its alot of information for one individual to know off hand?
- Yes, thats right.
- So would it be correct to say that you would not expect me to know the coordinates of the line off the top of my head?
- But its your job to know!
- Is it not your job to know where it is in order to comply with EU and UK legislation?
- So where is it then?
- Do you know where to find the information?
- Yes, I do.
- Well, I would like to refer you to your charts and would like to ask you "Why are you in English waters when you know fine well where the limits are"?
Ignorance is no excuse!
