Old pic of two Harris lobster fishermen, Late Angus MacLeod (Neah) and late Donald Morrison (Domhnall Mor Uilleam) from Strond picured at Rodel on their boat Be in Time
been to rodell years back grass on the pier pub with the broken windows braw place would go back the morn givin the chance nice harbour and church
Two gentlemen
A great photo that, the days of marlin sheets and hazel bows on the creels, stone off the beach for a weight, bent on to manilla rope, and everything tarred no doubt. You wonder how they managed to stay on the deck with the height(or lack of it)of these gunnels..hardy men indeed.
And the two lads would never dream of the changes that would happen to the creel fleet 80ft boats going to the creels boats working round the clock 3000 creels.
I remember a Summers Yawl called Be In Time around the firth of lorne late 70's I think she ended up derelect on Mull. This wee boaty looks smaller, any one know if the Summers Yawl was the successor?
The Summers yole Be in Time was a well named boat, She was the last yole into the Broch in the storm of 1959, Two others were lost with both crews, they were Easter Morn and Morning Star. One i think Morning Star was salvaged aff the Broch beach by Cameron Peterhead, She was repaired and sold again. Broch Lifeboat had to shepherd the other boats to Peterhead, Another yole Ocean Souvenire skippered by Scotty Mason capsized and righted herse.lf with the crew ok
i had the be in time from Mull, sold it 2 a guy from Fairlie, he took the lister out & put a ford in, he sold her, but i don't know where 2
The Summer's Be in Time was in Scrabster and Wick for a time in the seventies worked the ripper and creels.
