Aye thats right Jason, i hauled up early that day to let them come aboard for a practice, it was one of the pilots final training exams and they asked if we would lie out of gear, just to like practice on a boat with with no power.  normaly when they come down to practice they like you to keep a steady course and speed, even if your towing at the time. i was actually quite amazed at what happened, we were lying drifting at 0.2 of a knot, when the chopper came over us our speed went up to 1.5 knots, then when they were directly over us our heading was going from east to west te south, ach just all over the place really eh, just from the down draft of the helicopter.  just showed me exactly how skillfull these folk are at there job at keepin the helo steady over the boat and the winchman being able to get aboard the boat. it was part of the excercise that the while aboard the boat, the winchmans feet got tangled in something and he got pulled over the side and they had to rescue him from the sea, so thats why hes in the water in the photo. probably lost 2 hours of fishing that day but it was worth it to let them practice in the way they did.

i'm in the lifeboat crew in montrose and we had a practise with the same crew fae lossiemouth, good guys like.  We gave the winchman a shot of the small boat in return for a wee shot of the chopper but he was nae up for it! haha.  we got winched up in pairs, i was terrified! i dont like heights and had to be kicked out of the door to get back down to the lifeboat.  Good fun!
