Cove Harbour Fishermans Memorial - designed by Jill Watson and an addition to those erected by the same artist at Eyemouth, Burnmouth and St Abbs.
The memorial sculptures show the widows and children left behind looking out to the sea and rocks where such terrible events occurred in the teeth of the wind and rain during the terrible storm of October 14, 1881, when 189 men lost their lives. Cove was the worst hit community proportionately, losing four of its five boats and 11 of its 21 fishermen.
As as long as Lads go to the sea it will always be the same only thing is now the men are sometimes lost far from home, forced there by a need to feed the bairns and a ruling class that have never the wind screaming through the rigging or seen a mountain o water about to tumble on the deck and carry all afore it.
They don't know about the real price of fish and more to the point they really don't care.
