hi steve , this was my first mates job in north star she is a cracking little ship. on the night of the piper alpha she was one of the standby boats there and was called sandhaven. there is a brass plate on the bridge in memory of the crew that were lost from her. its been about 14 year since i was on her but i am pretty sure it was her boat crew, someone on here might be able to put me right as its so long ago.
    Hi Terry

Yes unfortunately two crewmen on a fast rescue boat launched from the standby vessel Sandhaven, and six Piper Alpha crewmen they had rescued from the water were killed when the MCP01 riser failed at 22.50. Sean Ennis was the Master on the Sandhaven.

    Regards

    Steve E.
