The old man's first berth after he left school aged 14 was at the creels and seine net with his father and older brother on this boat. She was a 35ft Fifie with a 26/30 petrol/paraffin Kelvin. Photo taken in Dunbar 1943.At the time they were broadside seine netting with 5 coils a side of inch and three quarter Manilla rope,or "18 thread messanger "as it was known.The fairleads or "jeanies" as the Dunbarmen called them can be seen on the port side.
