Built by Slater Lossiemouth Skipper was H. Murray
photo courtsey of the Lossiemouth Fisheries Museum
Nice looking older style seiner Cyril.The Clyde men would know H.Murray better as "Auld Henry" fae Rothesay.He was with Young Henry on the Ambassador,Plough and then Dawn Carol in later years.No that many years since he passed away.
Yes Ronnie new them well Auld Hendry used to come up to Lossie every year to go to the retired fishermens bus run
when he was able to He stayed with his brother Alex who was also aboard the Lodestar and is still on the go
there is a photo in coasters and fishing scene of when we went to Anstruther a good few years ago of those who went on the run and Hendry is in it I will have to post it on this site
A good day out was always hud by all

They wid hae tae power wash the inside o' the bus when the trip wis feenished Cyril,tae get rid o' a' the scales!! There would have been some bags of fish ta'en in ower that day A great day out I'm sure though.
Wullie Hay fae Portsoy ,{ well he was really a Sanine loon } had this one for a few years before he got the Illustrious built.
Thats right lowflier I shoud have said ( Sunine ) Willie is a good friend of mine
haulin' the net through the block was great on the Dawn Carol, Young Hendry could swing you from port to std without your feet touching the ground.......awfy course ;
Awfae coorse when he was in a good mood syd,stand back when he was in a temper?
his granda and his uncle alex were the same Ronnie but they were fine lads Auld Hendrys brother Alex lives not far from me I often see him down at the harbour He is Eighty two but still likes to have a good banter with the other retired fishermen
Cannae remember "Auld Henry" being anything other than an awfae canny man Cyril,but there again I never knew him in his prime !! Young Henry was all right as well even if he could loose his rag now and again...he wasnae the worst by a long wey.
Thats right Ronnie Auld Hendry was the same in his younger days a quiet canny man
