1983? was that the summer you got several in the one day up the soon off machrie? i remember it being a beautiful summers day, not a lot doing prawnwise and spending an hour or two up the mast aft on top of the wheelhouse with a pair of binoculars looking for fins so the old man could relay the information to you, just wanted to get a close look at you getting one, which you did just off the kings coves, by the time we towed past neville was lying on his belly in the rubber dingy with the big breed knife. sure it was 83 as we hadn't put the shelter on at the time and i had just returned to sea after a prolonged spell playing snooker after a discussion on tayinloan quay the previous autumn which ended with me packing my grip for a few months ashore!!!
