whit yr wid that be big douglas 30s maybe
I agree James, could be between 1932 when Mary Bain was built and 1937/38 when Sireadh TT150 was sold, as It looks like Sireadh is tied up astern possibly alongside the bigger Smiling Morn TT50. Smiling Morn left in 1937 for Wick. The Smiling Morn had her white line painted broader near the stem. Any ideas for the others?
Am i right in thinking this is the Walter Reekie build of 1932, TT35? Can anyone confirm that the original engine was a Kelvin 66 diesel, or was it a smaller pet/par affair? Also, was length around 50 ft? Finally, who was the boat built for? Am doing a wee bit research into the Reekie yard at present, any help gratefully received!
mary bain was built reekies 1932 about 50ft more or less same as the kingfisher same yd 66 kelvin in her latterly dont know if pet parf when built but might be able to find out for u built for mcmillan family tarbert
Mary Bain TT35 49.5x14.8x7.2 23.74 tons. Crechan has told you the rest. I would be really interested to see your finished Reekie research, if it is for public viewing, as I tried to save a Reekie boat a few years ago.
Thanks, Crechan and Brian. Realise now that I could have looked it up in your TT boats book, never thought! Reekie research is part of a long term project, writing up East coast boatyards between Berwick and Aberdeen. Sometimes wonder if it'll ever be finished, done about 25 yards so far, still a few to do but getting there. Thanks for your interest, Graham
