The launch of Pleiades commences
Tks Steve, was freezing but worth it to see
the Pleiades being launched
the Pleiades being launched
I did think about coming down to see what would be the first launch of a Trawler that I had seen - however the thought of driving over the frosty North Yorks Moors put me off. Still, got to see the launch via your photographs anyway

Y'day was my first launch Steve.
There have been 3 since I started taking pictures but 'cos I
work shifts have missed them all.
Took a couple of hours off work y'day morning and
arr there just in time.
The roads were clear so you could have made it OK !!

Landluber, when I was at school in Banffshire, we would not have called this a launch. It must have something to do with "putting wood int hole" culture.
Well I am a landluber and was in the army, however,
Parkol described it as a launch on their home page

I would think the thrill of seeing your new ship hitting the water would be every bit as much of an adrenaline rush for the owner whether it went down a slipway or was craned in,but I doubt if the onlookers would agree with that.Nothing to beat a big splash for the spectators and to get the boat off to a good start as well !!
we were launched by crane ronnie and got to say it is not the same as seeing her go running down a slip and hitting the water but all the same the thing of having a new boat enterin the water for the first time everything new it is different
one way or the other its still a big day for those concerned. a new boat is a new boat no matter how shes wettened for the first time. fair play to those who make such commitments
