James Edgar

James Edgar

James Edgar seen here in Buckie Harbour (Scotland) on 28th July 2008.

She is the former Trawler Maureen June and is used as a film and TV Prop - see the owners web site @ http://www.mediamari...k/services.html

This is what the owner says on that site:

The James Edgar is an 80ft ex-arctic trawler which has had a few different names and uses in its time. Built in 1972 by John Lewis & Sons Ltd of Aberdeen for Terry Taylor and was regarded as the top boat in Europe, fishing all over including the Barent Sea more recently made famous in Discovery channels ' The Deadliest Catch '.

With beautiful lines and a deep hull the design was widely recognised as being a 'great sea boat'.

Built from high grade steel the hull was recently surveyed to still be in very good condition and the refurbishments have made it into an excellent platform for filming, working, diving and general charter. The main engine is a 'CATERPILLAR 3214' which replaced the original 'BLACKSTONE' engine. It has 2 auxiliary engines, a 'GARDINER' and another 'CATERPILLAR'. The latter runs a 157kw generator as well as the hydraulics for the anchor and 'man over board ' recovery system. There is a large fresh water tank which supplies the new shower room and W.C. as well as the galley and a capacity for 18 tons of fuel which gives it the capacity to travel far and wide as it has done in its past.

rival site has her being scrapped in exeter in 2012 no mean feat given that exeter is a little way inland from the mouth of the river exe but i'm sure they'll be correct?
i was actually looking for the name of the stern trawler terry taylor skippered in the 80's before he had his own boat built, i think previous boats had been in partnership with his salesman don fishing?
