ARBROATH CREEL BOATS.
Whit???...ye tellt me Rangers wid win the league, noo ye tellin' me ye're a gentleman...that's twa lees for a start !!
That's three in a row and a bonus. I believed ye when ye said they would win the league, could just aboot imagine ye as a gentleman, but me handsome??....ye definitely need tae throw thae auld glesses away and gaun tae Specsavers fella lol Mind Dick Less all right, last time I clapped eyes on him was when he had the Kia Ora through here and that wasnae yesterday....or the day before!
Aye KY,I didnae really get muckle choice back in 1969 when I moved here.It was either stey in Dunbar on ma lonesome or follow the furniture van....a toss up atween a life o' cooking and cleaning for masel' or the old lady daein' it for me and there wasnae really a contest there when a' said an' done....ah was ower fond o' ma creature comforts lol.....and the rest as the say is history!
Dinnae you worry aboot me taking offence freend,ye couldnae hurt ma feelings wi' a 14 pund maul, and as ye say it's a' guid banter !! If ah had steyed in Dunbar ah wid have been either an alkie or deid by now anywey,so maybe the folks did me a big favour when they moved lol

looks like a couple of fleets aboard the Vanguard there.could be the extra 2 men`s boat is broken down, and the Vanguard`s been bringing their gear ashore for them.50 creels a man would of been about the max then.sorcha.and that was just self imposed.hand hauling had a lot to do with it too.
Aye,YOU'VE hand hauled 300 widden creels in a shift...the rest o' us mere mortals arenae built like Desperate Dan though !! Maist I ever managed was 120 by hand on my own before I got the wee hauler put on,and that was sair enough going for me Davie...ye can keep yer 300 lol
thirs no many creels left roond the coast to haul efter thon storm lotta money lost,st andrews lads are are hauling bundles o mangled creels an rope 50-60 all bundled the gither an only a few worth saving
thts a fact mack, but the labby price hasny shot up has it ,,aye the west coast i,ll be flooded again , aye right, cripples saft yins any excuse bla bla bla , aaarrrrrr
The late David Young (scummie) had her one of the top creel men out of Arbroath in the 50/60s,she was crewed with three men all had there own creels 90 per man.In the winter she worked the cod nets. The other boat thats got creels abourd is Dod Milne s Budgie you could wash your hands in the sea at the stern when she was steaming she was that low aft.
a expect yi could take 50+ stone aw partons oot 90 in them days though bryan ,,
