Makes sense to me, air cooled, cheap as chips fer bits, runs forever with minimal maintenance no computer boards to burn oot and no laptop required to bloody tune it!! Almost as good as my old volvo penta wi points n a "real distributor" timed wi bit o tin foil and a flashing light....great fun.

I was never really into petrol engines in boats, but I agree with Hugh's sentiments.."keep it simple".A wee air cooled hand start Lister takes a bit of beating in the simplicity league.Rarely known to fail and certainly nae problems wi' water pumps or electrics, even if they are inclined to run a wee tad warm at times 8:)
just away to take a 50 year old lister out of my boat. still runs quite well, theyre bulletproof!
i would not swap my petter ph2 for anything else had it 18yrs still dont burn oil and a couple of pints of fuel an hour ,i like it so much it is going into my new boat when she is finished,no flat batterys for me when i cant swing the handle its time to give up.
i rue selling my old boat last year she still had the original petter ph2w in her she was built with in 1968!! not a flicker of bother at !! all new boat has a yanmar engine one bloody thing after another and now its finally give up the ghost all together! so if anybody out theres got a good yanmar 3gm30f engine for sale let me know failing that i want me old boat back!
could do ye a deal on a lister.... bastard thing broke my hand earlier in the year, so its gettin the heave
