I believe it's the Falcon CN 97 at St.Monans in 1922 just new built...and before ye ask,no I wasnae at the launching O0
never seen a pic of  another  ringer with a sail like this, is this sail big enough to move the boat at a decent speed was it used in addition, or an emergency replacement for the motor ,
Never seen one myself either, lug sails are pretty powerful beasts, would probably get a reasonable speed out of it but bugger all maneuverability, odd to see a big lug with out a sprit and foresail on the go as well.  1924... maybe a case of old habits die hard for the skipper!
Yes Chris sail, most boats carried a sail,  jimmy noble boat I was aboard had a sail with her when she was built 1948 and we used it trying to make the first pool, don't know did it make difference or not, but I can remember the Misty IsleBRD coming in to mallaig under sail his engine smashed up 88kelvin some where between Sandaig and mary anns point on his way to mallaig with herring, Willie McRae should remember.
Built for Robert Robertson the (Hoodie) inCampbeltown neeboured the Frigate Bird
