Silver Quest in the Crinan Canal just after being raised
The bit I can't remember is exactly what year she sank ... very late 70s/early 80s. Got cut through by ice when attempting to transit the canal. Owned by the Currie family of Tighnabruaich for donkeys years
Don't recollect what happened to her after the sinking except that she was rasied and (I think) repaired
Anyone know her fate? She was a 30's built boat (Noble FR) and even at the time of the sinking had a varnihsed foredeck
Jay
This is the same boat here: http://www.trawlerpi...sa=view;id=5935 although she looks a bit different without the weight of the machinery.
Good heavens, I didn't twig when I saw that pic at the time it was posted
See she still has the original sliding forehatch
It and the engineroom hatch were made of teak ... beautiful and old man Currie kept them varnished to the end
Hull planking is pitchpine

Was she raised by Crinan Boats? If so could the boys on her deck be from Crinan Boats. The man in the whitish overals could be Norrie McGill. The man with the hat and blue overals could be Gordon Smith and the youngster on shore could be John McIndeor.
I mind of Chester at the cod nets was this one not just under the 40ft the one in the pic looks bigger ?
Could be mistaken i was only a boy . . . .

Is this the Silver Crest owned by Alex "Rintin" McCrindle in Girvan? The fightin' 66 as he called her, he fell across the red hot manifold and stuck to it by his face.
Had a Gleniffer in her, John "doods" had her in Tarbert before the Curries, thought he got her from CN but no often I am right and will be wrong again no doubt
Not often i'm right but yet again i was 100% wrong !! Bushy informed me today that she was 48ft i'll believe him
Everything looks bigger when you're young PJ
Was this the Silver Crest Jeff Comber had in Peel 1970
