Never heard him playing Dowler but I was told by several folk that he was very good. At times he would unwittingly do the finger movements if he was sitting in a pub at the week-end wi' a cargo aboard, seemingly knew his stuff though.A heart of pure gold had Dougie, and a grafter as well. Aye had a bottle of Martell brandy stashed in his bunk on a monday morning and every now and again during the day he would look a bit hingin' doon, then vanish below for a couple of minutes and appear again looking brand new !! We all knew but naebody said anything about it,by Tuesday he was back to normal. He looked out for me on the boat and was very good to me in many ways was "Dougie Sampson"...I had a great deal of time for him.
Are there anymore of the 50s onward pics cant seem to be able to find any since the upgrade?
