Numora BA132

Numora BA132

surely one of millers first 40ftrs. i see the cabin hatch firrit there, the others i mind of had aft cabins.
    FRUITFULL, DAUNTLESS, ST. NINIANS.
This boat was also built for ringnetting. thats how she has a focsle.
she wasn't one of Millers first 40fters.
she was built in 59 as a ringer/seiner, your right about the general hull layout though there were about 10 built some with aft cabins and bigger wheel houses but all with the same hull,
She still fishes out of Tarbet as the Sunbeam with a new wheelhouse tripod and a crane fiitted.

Silver Crest LH316 (now Boy Andrew same pln) was another around 1961 for Charlie Horne and Willie Dickson
I remember Andy Tarry filling the Numora and the Westering Home 1960/61 N/SIDE of boisdale called TARRYS BITE. that speakes for it self. I think she carried 80/90 cran.

Ringnetman, we put out 365 baskets out of Nancy Glen TT10, that was about the average for a 40ft ringer,
another Miller's aft cabin 40ftr the Dawnwatch(ex St Ninnians???) neighboured the Saffron at the Banks one spring, can't mind if she carried a ringnet but sure one of the Ayrshire boys will know.
I've got a copy of the plans for the Numora and the St Ninian some where, with great intentions of oneday building a model.
As a kid I remember my grampa telling me of loaded runs acorss the Minch and at the Clams with 5ft dredges towed off the sceine net ropes.
i hadn,t thought about her being built for the ring net,,just thought she was built as a seiner/trawler,type.
they would want forward cabin for carrying stuff better,,
Used to tell us stories of getting caught by the cutter in the shall off Dumbarton with Wullie Wilson, got a bit of heat for it to I'll bet. just a wee bit inside the limit then.
