Smit Dee

Smit Dee seen here in Buckie Harbour (Scotland) early morning on 29th July 2008.

She is often to be seen in the Port of Blyth, so it was good to see her up in Scotland

3 oil engines with clutches & single reduction reverse geared to screw shafts driving 2 FP propellers at 840 rpm driving 1 Water jet at 840 rpm
Total Power: Mcr 1,305kW (1,775hp)
Service Speed: 20.00kts

She is a Training Vessel (Rescue) used by the Royal Air Force and attached to an aircrew support training vessel and is still in service working with RAF Boulmer, Lossiemouth, Lucas, Leamming and Kinloss.

    Quite often see her in BCK Steve, think theres a few more Smits, some this size and a few smaller ones aswell.

    Yes, I've got a shot of Smit Don in the Port of Blyth, back in March 2007. I'll post it when I work my way down to that part of my hard drive  ;D

    There's the Smit Spey as well, looks identical to this one, sometimes does crew changes in Brid.

    Hi Sam, knew there was another one but couldnt remember until i seen your comment, all named after rivers i would presume, Dee, Don and Spey.

    im sure iv seen one nearly identical to this pass us before and roaring about down in the thames and towards lowestoft
