looking across engine room from gantry to four warsila generating engines
How many horses in them then
just over 2000 bhp each - so if you were in a hurry and all four were running you'd go through about 17,000 litres of diesel per 24 hrs approx ( if i remember rightly?!) ( thats for all 4, not each!)
THATS ALOT O FUEL WOULDNT LIKE TO PAY FOR THE BILL LOL
Certainly eat your dinner off them

Not sure whether they still have the single cylinder doxford at Shields, used to shake half the college when they ran that thing up
do u think the horses r clydsdales knoxy
Barry, I think its still there,if not I heard they have some sort of Doxford which was moved recently into the most amazing museum outside Gateshead called Beamish.A fantastic place to spend a whole day.By the way Barry I liked working on the old Doxfords, real engineering at its best, pure sweat.......

Spent 3 years at Shields doing my cadetship, never got to the museum in Gateshead, the Doxfords were certainly unique engines for sure
pretty sure the old doxie was still alive and well(!) at the marine and tech at the back end of last year when I was in there
