Sticks in my mind around 1971 in Oban, give or take a year or maybe two, that he was lying alongside us and in the morning a lad appeared on deck in a bonny silk dressing gown and slippers, with a tooth brush and a mug of water in his hand and proceeded to brush his teeth at the side of the boat.He was a middle aged man who I think owned the boat (ex merchant navy, but I could be wrong)...am I hallucinating again,or is that the vino talking?? It's so vivid in my mind the picture of the man and the utter astonishment of his dress and what he did that that I begin to wonder. Can somebody confirm that I'm no going doo lally please lol
not sure about you hallusinating ronnie but alistair gibson ran cargo on a boat of that name would have been about late sixties early seventies. bit before my time remember she ended up tied up at salen with a scania lorry cab as a wheelhouse was just wondering if it was this boat
No, this was a previous Glen Carradale owned by Lawrence MacBride's father. The ex Watchful was for sale quite recently from Fleetwood.

Was speaking to PJ about her recently and he said that the Watchful was a far better sea boat than the Seeker.
watchful was built in Fr for pd owners in 58-36'.sold to ins registry in 69. owned while in pd by andrew buchan, r mayo e nichol fishmerchant. u r right they had a bad crash on the way home and one of the sons was killed. another son who wasnt a regular on the boat was alex buchan who was a captain in the merchant navy. known as"buck". died a couple of years ago spent a lot of time laterly compiling a very extensive list of pd steam drifters with their histories and owners.
