Fleetwood trawler, Wyre Majestic, FD 433 lost 18th October 1974 Islay Sound. Built 1956 at Cochrane of Selby.
Passed there a couple yrs ago, nuthing visable to see now, saw the funnel & bridge for a while but all gone now, done well to have lasted so long !
I was up there in 93/94 and you stand on her deck /
she was full a blow holes like a whale -didnt venture below deck too dodgy even then -looked a bit like she does in photo at that time.

where about in the Islay Sound did this happen?
ive always like the shape o these auld sidewinders,they just look like they would weather any storm

freddy d. she ran aground appx. halfway between Rudha a Mhail.

I was on the LH Pioneer think it was 68 we ran aground on the rocks north side o Port Askaig coming out from the pier took 2 boats Mayflower Freedom to tow us of.Think we had a wee top up that night.
