A better put a picture on of some lads that could catch one or two, just to keep KY jelly happy, am away to watch match o the day, no catch.
ky U know very well that in those days there was boats that went to sea and never shot net and landed there quota all wk .would they do that now?
Hardly a herring in Dunvegan these days , used to get them on the rod , a hand line used to rip the hooks out of their mouth but you could alter the way you worked the rod and take it easier ,As for mackerel hardly seen one round Skye this year that was of a decent size
Used ti get a markie o bonnie mackerel aff the bulls nose at the head , bonnie big fishies as you say , they wewrre there all year round KY as roon as yer fore arm and as lang , used to fill an orkney longliner in a couple of hours with twa rods between 8 at night and 10 o clock the sea used ti boil with them and then the herring wid rise at dusk and you wid get a box or twa o them as weel , mackerel waqsd for ma faithers creels and herring for ma stoker and twa or three rolled in noatmeal and in the frying pan , good days
In the winter we used ti call them groundkeepers , wisna a lot but they big eens were def there,used ti be in the 25 fathom between the bulls nose and the second head about the crack that run doon the cliffs , used ti see a lot o scads there efter october as weel , , can only mind a couple o pursers in Dunvegan itself , last een I think wis Irish theyt found a mark shot awa and teen a haul o podlies jist aff the monument at Galtrigal , ither een wiz the Conquest at widve been early 80s

nothing to do with using slang or doric Mark, couldn't care about that, just need to keep it within the realms of patter more than anything that's all
