All said & done we aw know they wizna meant for open water, roond the lochs etc & oot & in every day, but as time went on l spose they tried to do that bit more wi them, smart lookin richt enuf as ye say though !
I well summed up by KY and Ronnie spent many hrs on passage in a head punch standing behind the wheelhoose .When u did manage to get forrit it was often like a bomb site.
When ye think back on it Freddy,between the motion,the heat of the fire,stale fag reek,plus the stink o' soor bilges,the focsle on a coorse day was only for lads wi' cast iron guts.Yon fairly sorted oot the men fae the boys....have to admit I didnae manage intae the first category!.As Big Eddie Thomson aye said "pups tae the pavement and the auld dugs tae the hard road"...I had tae be content wi' the pavement lol
I Ronnie it was a treat when you went aboard a boat wi a cabin aft .You sometimes got a bit o a shock if u had been below when u seen what the weather was like.
