Aye KY,I didnae really get muckle choice back in 1969 when I moved here.It was either stey in Dunbar on ma lonesome or follow the furniture van....a toss up atween a life o' cooking and cleaning for masel' or the old lady daein' it for me and there wasnae really a contest there when a' said an' done....ah was ower fond o' ma creature comforts lol.....and the rest as the say is history!

looks like a couple of fleets aboard the Vanguard there.could be the extra 2 men`s boat is broken down, and the Vanguard`s  been bringing their gear ashore for them.50 creels a man would of been about the max then.sorcha.and that was just self imposed.hand hauling had a lot to do with it too.
ats a load o pish  aboot handhauling etc , av pulled 300 widden creels in a shift by hand ma self ,  anyway that boat had a winch ,  self imposed fifty creels my arse ,,

The late David Young (scummie) had her one of the top creel men out of Arbroath in the 50/60s,she was crewed with three men all had there own creels 90 per man.In the winter she worked the cod nets. The other boat thats got creels abourd is Dod Milne s Budgie you could wash your hands in the sea at the stern when she was steaming she was that low aft.
a expect yi could take  50+ stone aw  partons oot 90 in them days though bryan ,,
