This old Lass is 50 odd years old now, built like a battleship, big heavy bugger of a coble and used to be terrible to pull up to pots, used to lay sidewise, tried all sorts including cutting holes in the draughts in the hopes she would lay better.
Don't know if she still has the 4LW still in her, she was like a rocket and the rudder used to float up when she was going full, so they put a small chain on the rudder head and shackled it down to the scutboard.!!!
Like Peck Walkers Guide Me, the plan was that they would spend a bit of time towing about in the garden, that was why they both had wheelhouses amidships
only other coble ive seen like her was on the west coast of scotland a few years ago it was up on the stocks at port william and had a 6 pot ford in it
coble at port william was a amble built coble
the one at port william was a nice boat too bloke had it for years he tole he used it for long lining cant of been many built with central wheelhouse
the coble at Port william was the Shangri La  BA.65   built at Amble in 1970  length 12.10m. does anyone know is she still on the go.
    shangri la decommissioned about 2006,dave
