I started off with a cardboard template for the sub-deck as it's a lot cheaper (free) as against a lot of ££'s for ply. I have cut out the the fish room hatch and fore-hatches. The charging point for the batteries is through the fore-hatch as per that on the Girl Jean. This works very well. The power switch will be accessed under the fish-room hatch. The aft access to rudder post is yet to be decided upon as there is a raised platform on the poop. I usually place the batteries further forward in the hull but as this design is very full in the aft-end, they now sit (five 'C' cells soldered together on each side) under the wheelhouse. She balances out quite nicely with this arrangement.
