Flying Scud

Flying Scud seen here working in the Port of Peterhead (Scotland) on 28th July 2008. She is owned by the Port and as far as I could see she was the only Tug around

    Steve,
From its initial launch the cox of the Flying Scud was my late good friend Gordon Craighead. He used to keep her spik and span. His daily stores were half an ounce of Golden Virginia and two morning rolls (butteries as they are called). So strange they built the Ugie Runner but have still kept the Flying Scud,so Gordon must have done the boat some good.

    Hi Gavin

Do you know anything of her history, launch date etc?

Looking at her superstructure she has seen better days  >:(

Will check the details for you Steve.

    Steve,
Still waiting on my contact to come back about The Flying Scud.My own memory tells me that it was the now closed down Peterhead Engineering who built her and it had a Gardiner engine, built after 1975.Will be back with more details, unless anyone gets there before me.Also I watched the Ugie Runner towing a coaster away from the pier with no problems,a cracker of a work boat.
