Silver Birch wheelhouse/galley veneering

Silver Birch wheelhouse/galley veneering

Now cladding the superstructure. The carcass itself is 1/32 ply and the cladding is 0.7mm thick, dark and light Mahogany, and Anigre woods. These woods can be obtained from Billings and the plank widths I am using are 2mm,3mm and 5mm. Once they are all in place, sanding sealer will be applied and a fine grit sanding will prepare the structure before applying the varnish......That's the theory. A wee note: you will be viewing these pics at several times the actual size so imperfections will be more apparent on the screen. Behind the structure you should be able to see picture of the wheelhouse which is in James Pottinger's book, 'Fishing Boats of Scotland'.
