SUNBEAM SN92

SUNBEAM SN92

Sunbeam SN92. With record shot of Sprats for one shot. 60 Ton, let 10 ton go.
Skipper Peter Fairbairn. Entering the Tyne 1976

    fantastic picture!!
    360 cran.
    is 60 ton,not 240 cran.
seems a lot for a 62ft, boat to hold 360 cran.
lord hood (drifter) had 343 cran aboard and she was to the deck midships.
    for her record landing.
    60 TON. 160 STONE TO THE TON.= 9600 STONE.
    28 STONE TO THE CRAN. 9600- 28 = 342.86 CRAN
Thats what I make it anyway
i was just working with the rule of thumb.
an old hand once told me a 100 cran was 25 ton
so 200 cran would be 50 ton +40 for the 10  ton.=240 cran..
the buyer would of been happy paying for my calculations of 60 ton.
he would be getting a 100 cran free.
    wheres my abacus
It was a lot to shovel anyway you count it. !!
Theres a deck cargo there as well. Probably 10 ton on deck
    shes carrying it well too.
good job the weathers half decent
keep the boys nice and warm shovelling that lot out.
Six cran to the ton , I shovelled plenty herring and sprats and I WISH i was still shovelling them  you are right LYCLA 28 stone to the cran, Lord hood as you should know forepeak if you were at the drifts had a good right to be to the deck 343 cran and 100 plus wet net, when we took herring or sprats aboard, and we took plenty you did'nt look down the hold to see how many ton you had you looked down to see how many cran you had. wish I could turn the fucken clock back.
your right there ringnetman. a few ,well most of us wish the clock could go back even just to before we had every tom dick an harry telling us what to do, and how to do it.
i wasnt at the drifts, but would imagine 100 or more wet nets would be a fair weight too.
just wait till i remember who told me 100 cran was 25 ton, grrrr
