Slipway moving on.

Slipway moving on.

Steady progress with the slipway. Starting to look the business. Lotsa details, weathering, general untidyness, work in progress and yard clutter to be added. The winch house is almost complete with the roofing painted but still waiting for the flashings.

Did the AH slip not have the wood blocks sitting on some arrangement where they were adjusted from the boat....I am sure I mind doing that. I think the blocks were on a slide arrangement.. The ropes were hung off the vertical pole things and went through sheaves in the cross beams. When you went on or off the slip you could adjust the block by heaving on one rope or the other. The idea was that you could get the blocks tight to the hull afore she came out of the water....Hope this helps. Your model is brilliant!
your right moutin noir, angled bars that slid up against the boats side, then the wooden blocks touching the hull.
then wedges would be put in where needed.
im sure will is getting round to that.
once he finds the boys in whatever pub theye skedadlled off to.
hed be better putting a pub nearby. at least theyll be easier to find.

Thanks lads. I rang Harry Simpson re: the sliding blocks system that the cradle originally had.  Apparently it is still the same as that used on the original wooden cradle. The blocks would be positioned clear of the bilges and when the boat is in position they would be slid in towards the bilges on greased plates using attached ropes which run under the keel and up the other side.  It solves a few problems as to how I can display different boats without major alterations to the support blocks.  Thanks again for bringing that one up and it will be incorporated on the model. Any aid to my pragmatic approach to the build is most welcome.
    Cheers
