Another bonnie ringer, did they take the coiler off when they went to the ringing as it looks to be in the road of the barrels of the ringnet winch???
Think the coiler would come off (belt or chain driven) -also I think I heard (posibly on here!!)that they could turn the winch barrels round to line up with hauling position tobring up ring net sole over midships rail.
James I wonder why he had his focsle skuttle on the portside

Looks like the Fifer winch/coiler. If so, the winch will be belt driven from engine and a chain drive from winch to coiler. The orientation of winch/coiler is typical of the AH boats that I've come across. This layout although not the most practical, is the most compact making for more deck space. Also looks like the fore tabernacle had been extended to clear the coiler and with the relocation of the Fifer further aft, the mast has been dropped to original position.  The angle extensions are sitting well proud. The boat has the lines of a Miller ringer.........yes?

My goodness ... Boy Danny when new
I spent some time on her when she was the Endeavour, then owned by Arthur McFarlane out of Tarbert
By that time the winch had long been located forrard ... still the Fifer but stripped of coiler and fitted with trawl drums. It was bloody knackered and the guide on gear was me with a crowbar
    Hey ho!
