flying fish where are you getting a 100 trawlers from have a look round the harbours there all gone the east side apart from FR PD there is just a handful left and they are having a job to get crews.
between stranraer girvan troon rothesay largs upper clyde tarbert carradale cambeltown not counting irish vessells that are near permantly in the clyde there is a lot of boats and even more jobs on shore at risk if only the creelmen would realise that coasts plan eventually is to have a no take zone where will that leave them

Westword, you have been on here long enough to know and have been involved in the arguments about creel/trawl and i have already stated that i have no interest in arguing about the East coast creelmen as they do not affect me.The letter in the FN was about Clyde specifically and the point i and a lot of others have made is about creelers on the West coast trying to get the whole West coast closed to the trawl and have it all to themselves on the back of a bogus argument about trawlers wiping out Cod,Herring and Halibut stocks as that biased and factually wrong programme on the BBC tried to state.I have a good working relationship with the creelers in my area that take a responsible approach to the conflicts and dont think that they should be able to work 5000 creels if they want and dont think that trawlers should be thrown out of an area that they have worked for decades just because it suits greedy and selfish creelers. Now you can try and pick an argument with me all you like but until you or i impact on each others livelyhood it is rather pointless.Creelmen in my area and the West coast that are trying to get a closed area for themselves know who they are and i will continue to fight against them as long as i have breath.Mabye for your benefit when i say dont get me started about creelers i will say dont get me started about West coast creelers that would happily see me displaced and out of business so that they can fish wherever and work as many creels as they want?;D
Bryan DE127 I cannot comment on whats happening on the east coast but i certainly know whats happening in  the CLYDE 100 trawlers is no exageration. I was never prone to exageration at the fishing and certainly have not changed ,crews are a problem everywhere even at the creels.
