Lossiemouth harbour

Lossiemouth harbour

Could certainly pack them in these days. Another good en.
Need a "shoe-horn" to squeeze 'em in!! 8:)
Suppose the smaa coaster wouldna be sailin until a least the back o' sunday.  ;)   8:)
approximately 30 boats there. 5 of a crew on each boat=150 men employed.
    butcher
    baker
    grocer
    oil man
    net man
    rope man
    engineer
    electrician
    boatbuilder
    coalman.
all making a living out of the sea.
the other basin would probably be full of boats too. a fleet of 50/60 boats.
the fleet thats left is about half what it was and the warcry is still overfishing??
word of boats getting 4 days a fortnight next year. =96 days a year
on a par with the days the politicians work ,but not on £60,000. like their wages.
theres not many would want to work in those conditions nowadays.... haulin the net by hand, draggin coils o rope about, scoopin fish off the deck, no shelter, no tv.......

as bonnie a sight as the picture is, if the harbour was full of boats like that today, you wouldna have a hope of crewing them.....
