November 2011 Loyal Friend awaits the final chop at Macduff
Her hull is holding its shape well despite having had deck structure ripped out
Its a crying shame Jay
a bit ironic wi a name like that!!

That's right
They've been waiting for months
I guess they'll soon be gone ... chopped up into little pieces
Bloody waste

What harm is she doing like that, let her be something else but survive, sure she would live up to the name again, steel beams, new deck, smaller engine and reborn. There are many years left in that hull.

Ah, but that's too scary for the cowardly, arsehole bureacrats that administer decom money
this is the final generation of wooden vessels ... there will be not more, at least not in any number
there should be dispensation where and when sought
as for the new-build steel vessels of today, I cannot imagine anyone wanting to enjoy them for what they are ... ungainly lumps, even if they are good trawling platforms

Built Macduff 77 for Kilkeel as a herring pair /prawn trawler for Alex Newall, did get far on her way home after been built the big Kelvin smashed up in the canal towed back to Macduff for a new Kelvin to be fitted.
almost too sad to read
That's the trouble for me, wooden boats are individual and have a soul, I couldn't have left her like that with that name on her bow
In years to come we will look back and regret letting this destruction happen
