That the same one Ian Gibson had?
think ur right there sorcha
looks big size dont see the ringnet on board. very deep bullworks
See she hang ring net winch an brailer pole though ringnet man.
There was another one , almost identical built at the same time in 19 68 in Macduff, Im sure she was called CRYSOLITE, but nae 100% certain... :-
Bob McCutcheon had Crysolite, seen them both pairing when Avoch owned at the sprats in the Beauly, did Gratitude not go down Solway and Crysolite Mallaig?
one went to Scalpay
Aye the Gratitude came to Scalpay, owned by D Macleod who had the Vigilant, was on the scallops most of the time.
Dennis, Dan MacLoads father bought a boat of this same family when they got the Guide Me built
Thank you ringnetman, I,ve read quite a bit aboot the ring net fishing, especially the , in my opinion ,great Angus Martin,s books, but ther,s nothing to beat hearing or speaking to somebody who,s been there and seen it, as you most certainly have done.. Its interesting that you said that the mid 50s were hungary years, was it the price for the herring or what, cos according to the book The North Fishing, the Clyde ringers made quite a small fortune during those years,I would be very interested to know, cos drift net and ring net is my interest.. :-
