fruitful vine

She couldn't have carried any more that day. They "made up" some of the nets and stowed them aft to try and keep her "heidie" up!! Pelagic fishing still the same .. times you can more than fill the boat! Pretty ominous to see fish meal drums on the waiting lorry. Prime herring being reduced to meal and oil!
Think she went to Helmsdale named Buillidh Braes.   O0   :-
That's her, Ben Loyal. Biggit Irvins 1949 orig. for ringnet, driftnet, and later seine net. My late, respected Uncle Andra (Stephen) had a share o' her, and skippered her for a while till ill health altered things. After her time as Bunillidh Braes, she went to Buckie as Robert Scott. Ended up scalloping in Isle of Man as Boy Ken 11 .. reg. DO 5 . My father told me she had 140 crans  aboard that day. A massive shot for a 53 footer, considering there was a fleet o' nets on deck, and leader rope coiled doon forrit.
    interesting story
Hi Gee Bee,She was sold from Helmsdale in June 1973 to a Mr Wright and Mr Caulsen of Amble and then to Buckie I believe
Thanks for that, 11590! Was that where she got the Robert Scott name, or was it in Buckie?

Ta for extra info. It's a credit to the builders and owners that she fished well over half a century, even the rigorous job of towing and handling dredges!!
