Nice couple of pics of the two Kyles
Aquila was the first boat to fit the new 850hp Cat and I dont think Jim Slater built her she was on the stocks getting built for another skipper when his boat was lost with all hands.I think the boat was the Nautilis but I could be wrong.
Steven Macnabs boat the Nautilus was lost with all hands Bryan, a wee bit of info on this pic about it

great boats all of them, are there any still on the go or are they all gone??
Aye Willie a sad time his last trip too, as the saying goes if only.
cracking picture ally its nice to see the varnished boats. drove that road to newcastle a few times over the years when we used to leave the fortitude up there. not a nice drive in the winter.
Remember seeing the Aquila shooting her purse net in the Clyde, off measured mile in Arran trench, when new.
Pair trawling at night and practising shooting and hauling the purse net through the day, wanted to be in deep water 80fthm+ as he said his net would take bottom in 60fthm, the late Ronnie Johnson of the Destiny TT42 was advising him where to shoot as I think they were in RNR together.

Just noticed, they're rigged for pair trawl as well. Remember early 70s, the pursers trawled quite a lot after New Year.
