Does anyone know the name of this boat, painted by my father? It was against the north wall of the Marina at Marine Drive to the south of the ferry at Torpoint in about 1987.
Thanks!

Mam Coz possibly
Thanks Dazzer, are there any other pictures of Mam Coz for comparison?
dont know but its a belter of a painting, got any more to post
My father had a couple emails through the Herald to say that this boat is called 'Master Hand', can anyone confirm or refute that?
Masterhand did end up at Torpoint, although I'm not certain it was the Mam Goz, I am pretty certain its not the Masterhand, she was a converted sailing trawler.
Looking at the design of the wheelhouse, chain steering, the exhaust and steelwork set up she's definately French and I'm still reasonably happy its Mam Goz

Not Masterhand I don't think, although she did end up alongside Marine Drive & was broken up in the eighties. For many years she was more or less a bare hull before being broken up. She never had a coaming in front her wheelhouse & her wheelhouse was squarer without radiused corners. Masterhand was a very old converted Brixham sailing trawler.
Pretty sure this is a big old French built boat around 70-75ft long. Check out Francis Patrick & Belle Garce on Trawler Photos, although I don't think it is either of those I'm sure it is one similar.
It could be Le Gaulios - GU 5089 which I last saw laid up in Millbay Docks with a writ on her in about 1979 or 80, seem to remember she was painted a maroon colour then.
Hard to tell how much "artistic licence" was used for the painting but I doubt much as there is so much detail in the painting.

Sorry Daz, didn't see your post before I posted.
Just found an old FN newspaper advert with a picture of Mam Goz from June 1978.
She had wheelhouse with 3 forward windows, very similar to those on Jean Pierre Andre & Veronique.

Great painting .. the rust looks so authentic. Old rope, rusty warps, radar stand, sundried decks, broken windows. Once someone's pride and joy!!!
Got it !

Its La Petite Stephanie - GU 5042. 73ft long & built in France in 1956.
She was owned by Louis Ozard of Plymouth who I believe was known as "French Louis" but was in fact a Channel Islands man.
He sadly lost his life in March 1986 when his then command, Dawn Waters - J 742 capsized & sank with the loss of all hands in a storm in the Irish sea.
La Petite Stephanie was laid alongside Lockyers Quay in Sutton Harbour in 1982 & was seen again some months later in Millbay docks with her superstructure removed so it is safe to assume that she spent some time laid alongside the wall at Torpoint in between these dates.
I've found a photo of her looking forlorn in Sutton Harbour in 1982 so I'll post that.
