Was she in Balamory after that John? Seem to recall Marky Dan telling me Robin Cowe who had the wee Beulah had her there.
She was in Kyleakin about the late 70s
she put a few croans lorrys up the berrax brae dowler
Remember coming round Ardlamont in her loaded when a was about ten in a wee breeze a wis spewing out one window and Wiggy was doing the same out the other and the "Count" was at the wheel killing himself laughing.
not many houses up high rd in them days dowler i think remember being out once in her anne marie was a favourite havent even got a picture of her
talking to two men this morning one was aboard wee belle other on oaklea they were saying they got that many big rings they lost count where and when but the biggest ring they seen was at the fairway. got the grip o the deep strings and she was solid dry six boats round the net brailing .one man got that excited he spat oot his false teeth and they were sitting on the herring they were that dry .aye ringnetman u would know them a few still about yet
Yes Swivel she was a lucky boat that one if any boat should be in a museum it should be that one, she was a handy boat at the ringnet in every manner I will always regret not buying her when I had the chance, but there you go. I spoke to John tonight, I was just saying to him I wish we were leaving Bayhearty making for the westend with 90cran. Archie knows bayhearty Neil took a lot of SCATAN out of there.
aye ringnet man havent see john for a wee while .archie was saying the took a lot o herrin oot o there .we were speaking to the skipper of her this morning still on the go yet
Swivel Brevig that bite northside of Eriskay harbour seal bay I can't remember seeing Jacksons north of lochskippard Archie will know. shepard bite yes. Calum the Santa Maria he never came north they got most of there herring on the door step. Calum came north one winter there was a hell of a lot of herring all down the shores from Handa south to the Rudha reidh. Calum never stopped away back home. one night we put 70/cran aboard a drifter he had just shot 30 nets down on our starboardside we had all we could take so he let go his nets and came alongside, when he left us he got more herring of some one else then hauled his nets he finished up with 200cran plus he went to Ullapool the powers that be tryed to stop him landing, drifter landing ringnet herring not on, but little willie got them out, today that mans son is one of the big herring men out of the Broch. That was northof the Coigach Enard bay,.
