Ocean Sceptre KY 373

Ocean Sceptre KY 373

Built at Hessle, on the Humber as a great-liner. Interesting pic. showing power block aft, obviously switched over to seine netting. Still carrying mizzen sail, with yard, sail, and boom hoisted well clear of the power block.
Similar to Challenger and Serenus  (both PD) of that era.
No "baggywrinkle" for Baden to get excited about!!! ;D :crazy2: ;D :crazy2:

Ay George, that was one thing aboot the baggy,,,, ye couldna hise the boom up like that. The English drifters didna hae a lot of baggywrinkle cos they usually hid a long boom for a big mizzen, cos they used to shoot their nets with the mizzen set, so if anything went wrong during shooting...the boat fell, or was blown clear of the gear..They had to hoist their boom up to be clear o ither boats in the harbour... :crazy2:
